Widget Development Portfolio

Project overview:

A growing wealth management firm had an in-place solution based on IBM FileNet BPM using an iWidget based user interface.  After using the application for a while they found the employees were spending a lot of time in the application flagging documents indicating they had problems, a process which became the bottleneck for their efficiency.  Pyramid Solutions worked with the users to experience the scenarios first hand and discovered that the inefficiency had little to do with the process, but with the limitations of the in-place User Interface functionality.

The answer to the problem became a simple custom iWidget implementation that allowed them to perform the flagging with a single mouse click instead of the multi-step error prone process that was required previously.  Taking an approach of extending the existing UI instead of replacing it ensured that the customer could continue to upgrade and enhance their in-place solution without falling into the custom software trap.

Project overview:

One of the largest organizations of the US government was looking to replace an in-place application that allowed individuals to distribute content and work intra-departmentally.  The current system had limited communication methods and didn’t help users determine the correct department to distribute the work to.  Since there are thousands of departments within this organization, hunting and pecking for the right one became unreasonable.

Pyramid Solutions implemented a custom iWidget implementation that extended the existing iWidget based user interface.  This widget queried the government’s organization structure stored with their Microsoft Active Directory implementation which contained all the necessary information.  Additionally the widget provided a clean and simple forum like communication method that included linking to content and spell check.
